USAA Movers Advantage program typically provided their customers with a rebate incentive of somewhere between $1,000 and $1,500 for using one of their preferred realtors for their move. The USAA Car Buying Service is run through TrueCar, which is a car buying service that gives buyers a fixed, no-hassle quote from participating dealerships. This makes it easy to shop and compare car prices, print out a certificate, visit the dealership, and buy the car for the quoted price.
For example, they also offerUSAA Home Circle, which is similar to the USAA Car Buying Service, but for housing. It’s a cool feature and one worth checking out if you are moving. The MSRP is the suggested sticker price you see on new cars.

So I didn’t buy my car though the USAA Car Buying Service. I used the USAA Car Buying Service to search for my last vehicle purchase. When comparing new cars, the USAA Car Buying Service compared favorably to several other online car search tools. The important thing here is that the USAA Car Buying Service will bring you a firm sale price without having to go through the negotiation process. If not, you can use it as a starting point with a different dealer, or find a different car to buy. This reduces your stress and total amount of work, and can end up saving you money in the process.
It’s important to understand the MSRP is just that – a “suggested price.” Many cars end up selling for below the MSRP. Many popular models sell right at the sticker price. (some high-demand or hard-to-find models can actually sell above MSRP, but this is rare).

As I mentioned in a section above, I think using the USAA Car Buying Service as a starting point can save you a lot of time and money in the car buying and negotiating process. What Was the USAA Movers Advantage Program?
First and foremost, the USAA Car Buying Service is only available to USAA members. Membership is free, but it is only available to current and former military members and their families. You can visit the USAA website to learn more about membership, or to become a member. If you had a friend or personal contact that was a real estate agent, you wouldn’t be able to use them if they weren’t part of USAA’s network.
Unfortunately, I ended up cancelling my application because they couldn't match the rate of my VA loan as they only offer conventional and FHA loans. USAA Movers Advantage program was created by USAA to help their military customers during a move. It was supposed to put money back into the buyer’s or seller’s pocket, but USAA did this by arranging lesser commissions for real estate agents, and also keeping a portion of the money for itself. They had a list of preferred realtors that had agreed to this commission arrangement, whom the family buying or selling their home was required to use for their transaction. Most heroes save at least $3,000 when they buy or sell a home with us. When you add up savings from real estate agents, loan officers, title companies, home inspectors and other every day deals, the savings is way beyond what you’ll get from other national programs.
The above image shows an example of the price curve you will see on the USAA Car Buying Service website. The MSRP will be listed, along with the average market sale price over the most recent period. These are actual prices for real sales reported by dealerships. Used three times, twice buying and once selling.
While being one of USAA’s Preferred Realtors came with the benefit of getting referrals, you did give away some of your commission for that privilege. Still, many agents participated in the program, because of the tremendous advantage that it is to get real estate referrals.
